Unlike traditional health insurance, long-term care insurance is designed to cover long-term services and supports, including personal and custodial care in a variety of settings such as your home, a community organization, or other facility.
Long-term care insurance benefits are paid when the policy owner:
- Is unable to perform two Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) without “substantial assistance”
- Require “substantial supervision” due to cognitive impairment
A Licensed Health Care Practitioner must certify either of the above and must be expected to last for at least 90 days.
